Treasure Mountain Research Retreat #12, October 5-6, 2005
Gilmary Retreat Center, Pittsburgh, PA

Approcimately every two years, the Treasure Mt. Research Retreat assembles schooll ibrary media researchers and preactitioners for a day of thinking, studying research, and looking at new idas and treands in the field. The current collection of papers from Treasure Mt. 12 held before the 2005 AASL national conference in Pittsburgh was a never-to-be-forgotten experience in thinking about high-level learning activities as the central focus of the school library media program. Man of the papers center around the philosopy of Understanding by Design, a movement eaded by Wiggins and McTighe. Allison Zmuda, the keynote speaker and author of a central paper of this collection made this Treasure Mt. one of the finest thinking experiences of the participant's careers.
