What. A. Week.

Ontario Public Library Week was a whirlwind of events, celebrations, and community pride. Across the province, libraries rolled out incredible programming that showcased just how much they mean to their communities — story times, art exhibits, open houses, and probably more sheet cake than I should have had. Thank you to every library that participated and helped remind Ontarians that libraries truly are for life.

I’ll be sharing a full round-up (and some great photos) soon, just give me a chance to catch my breath and do some cleanup in my inbox.

This week, we’re also celebrating Canadian School Library Day — a moment to recognize the incredible teacher-librarians, library technicians, and educators who spark curiosity and creativity in students every single day. As library people, school libraries shaped who we are, and we want to hear your stories! Please join us in celebrating them, and tell us how your school library made a difference in your life with your Dear School Library love letter.

Last week we also hosted the OHLIA Conference — a big congratulations to the Health Libraries Council for pulling together such a strong program. Several attendees commented on how high-quality and relevant the sessions were. Fantastic work!

A huge congratulations to everyone who submitted a session proposal for Super Conference 2026. The lineup is officially set and will be released in a few weeks. It’s going to be amazing. If your session wasn’t selected this time, please know that your work still matters deeply. The ideas, projects, and stories you’re leading in your communities continue to shape the future of our sector, and that goes far beyond a conference program.

In other exciting news:
It’s the final week to snag your OLA 50/50 ticket! We’re aiming to hit the $10,000 mark. All proceeds support programs for young readers, so grab yours before the draw closes!

What a privilege it is to work alongside such passionate library people.

See you next Tuesday!
