Awards
Every year, the OLA recognizes individuals, organizations, and initiatives that have greatly contributed to Ontario’s libraries.
Nominations are accepted between February – November of each year other than the following awards:
- Public Library Sector – Children’s or Youth Services Librarian of the Year Award (February – October)
- Public Library Sector – Advocacy in Action: Excellence in Children’s or Teen Services Award (February – October)
- Library Building Awards (February – April)
- Lightning Strikes Award (September – December)

School Library
Awards
These two awards recognize teacher-librarians, school library professionals, school administrators, individuals outside of individual schools or school boards, and library professionals who have made substantial achievements.
College &
University Library Awards
These three awards are offered to members and non-members that recognizes exceptional achievement in service, research or planning.
Health Library & Information Awards
These two awards are offered to members and non-members and recognizes those who have had a significant role and made a lasting contribution to health librarianship in Ontario.
Public Library
Awards
These eight awards recognize library board members, library staff members, children’s librarians, public librarians, and library professionals who have made substantial achievements.
