While I was technically on vacation for most of the week, doing my best to truly be out of office, the OLA team kept things moving at full speed.
While I was away, the Copyright Symposium took place on Thursday and by all accounts it was a fantastic conversation about accessibility and copyright. There are still two parts left in this series, focusing on “copyright where you least expect it” and “rights retention”.
Nominations for the OLA election closed last week, and ballots have now gone out electronically to all current OLA members. Please take a moment to vote. I am thrilled with the number of people who have thrown their hats in the ring this year. It is wonderful to see how many members want to deepen their involvement with the association.
We also sent out a newsletter with updates on our recent school library advocacy efforts. Thank you to everyone who continues to support, amplify and contribute to this work. OLA continues to lobby on behalf of the school library sector, and to stress the important connection that those libraries have to literacy across all ages.
Back at the office, staff are in the midst of their annual performance reviews, so we spent time last week discussing timelines, reflections and plans for the year ahead. As always, I am grateful for the dedication and care that the team put into this process.
Super Conference preparations continue to ramp up as well. Registration is steady, signage and logistics planning are well underway, and everything is shaping up beautifully. Early bird registration ends this week – so don’t miss out!
See you next Tuesday!
