As the largest library association in the country, the OLA welcomes those with an interest in the library and information profession. With 4,000+ members who work in public, school, academic and special libraries, our members research, develop and participate in educational programs designed to provide exemplary library services.
Membership Categories
Individual
For students, job seekers, library professionals, retirees, friends of libraries and key contact members for institutional membership. This membership will support individuals looking to grow professionally, network, and collaborate with like-minded professionals.
Institutional Membership
Transferable to one person in a library for event registrations. This membership provides access to the key contact who will receive association messages, updates, print materials and more. To purchase this membership type, please contact OLA staff.
Public Library Board
For a Public Library Board to join as a unit. This membership extends individual membership privileges to each board member. To purchase this membership type, please contact OLA staff.
Associate
For businesses or corporations in the library and information profession. This membership will enable you to show support for OLA members and participate in OLA programs and events.
TALCO or Ex-Libris
For instructional leaders or managers for library programs at school boards from across Ontario (TALCO) or for all interested parties and primarily retirees (Ex-Libris).

Please note that membership is annual from the month in which it is first taken out. All members are extended voting rights, the right to hold office, the right to participate on committees and receive exclusive discounts on events, programs, publications and related services as announced.
