Health Library Sector Lifetime Achievement Award

Description 

The OHLIA Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an individual working in health libraries, hospitals, and health information environments in Ontario who has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of health information. The award honours exceptional achievements by all types of health library and information professionals.  

Eligibility

To qualify, nominees must have shown exceptional contributions to the profession in one or more of the following areas: 

  • Has made a significant contribution to the advancement of health information in Ontario  
  • Raising the value or profile of library and information services of the health environment consistently over the course of their career 
  • Contributing to the overall success of the profession through OLA/OHLIA activities 
  • Contributing to the overall success of the profession through mentorship, curricula or learning activities, including activities supporting equity, diversity and inclusion in health libraries 
  • All OLA Awards follow the OLA Awards Procedure

Criteria

  • Nominations will be accepted between:  February – November 
  • The nominator must be a member in good standing of OLA 
  • The nomination package should include evidence to support the nomination, potentially including, but not limited to: 
    • Nominee’s work history and significant positions in libraries. 
    • Examples of leadership and innovations, as in special projects, new services, community partnerships, etc. 
    • Letters of support from those who have been impacted by the nominee. 
    • Press clippings or other material demonstrating recognition of nominee’s impact. 

Selection Process

  • OHLIA council will review all submissions for the award and collectively choose the successful candidate.
