Big week at OLA! The Board is meeting, and all seven of our Councils are pulling up their chairs to plan out their Fall/Winter priorities. On the Board side, we’re also deep in the governance weeds—reviewing policies on executive roles, succession planning, and updating terms of reference for councils and committees. Not flashy stuff, but it’s the scaffolding that keeps OLA standing tall.
OLA Archive
I met last week with Our Digital World to get their assistance refreshing OLA’s VITA collection. Soon, members will be able to dive into the full 25-year archive of OLA publications—annual reports, conference programs, and more. It’s one of those projects that makes our history easier to access and celebrate, and I’m so grateful to ODW for partnering with us on it.
Virtual Book Club
Last week I tested out a little virtual book club pilot with Never Not Working by Malissa Clark. We got into some real talk about workaholism—how it affects us personally, how it seeps into our workplace cultures, and how we might resist it. Spoiler: it was a great chat, and I’m going to try to snag the author for a podcast episode so we can go even deeper.
The Podcast
Speaking of podcasts… Library Land Loves is BACK for season 7! We kicked things off with an episode all about the 2026 OLA Super Conference. If you’ve got a proposal percolating, this episode is basically your how-to guide to make it shine. It should hit your ears today, so give it a listen.
So yes, lots happening. Stay tuned, stay caffeinated, and stay cozy (it’s Fall out there!).
See you next Tuesday.
