It’s been another full and inspiring week at OLA!
Library Month Planning
As we head into Library Month, I can’t wait to share more about the celebrations and advocacy opportunities we’re putting together. It’s always such a highlight on our calendar — a chance to showcase the impact of libraries across the province and connect with the communities who love them. Stay tuned for details coming very soon.
Inclusive School Library Session
Last week, OSLA hosted an excellent session on creating more inclusive school library spaces. A huge thank you to the organizers and participants for bringing forward ideas and tools that make our school libraries welcoming for every learner.
Special Library Tour Stop
We also got the rare treat of visiting the Harry Sutherland Philatelic Library — yes, a whole library dedicated to stamp collecting! It was a fascinating tour, with a taste of what it’s like to be a young collector in an increasingly niche focus area. We’re so grateful to everyone who came along and helped make it such a fun and memorable event.
Nominations Open!
Nominations for OLA Council elections are now open. If you’ve ever thought about stepping into a leadership role in your sector and contributing your voice to OLA’s work, now is the time! We’d love to see lots of members put their names forward.
iSchool Talks
And finally, I had the pleasure of speaking with students at the UofT iSchool this past week. Thank you so much to all of you for your thoughtful questions and genuine interest in the work of libraries and associations. The future of the profession looks very bright in your hands.
Don’t Forget – Member Town Halls next week!
Our OLA President will be hosting two virtual town halls – 12pm on October 1 and 7pm on Oct 2. These are open to all members and will be a great chance to hear updates on the OLA Strategic Plan and explore new ways to engage in the life of the Association.
Register to attend here:
That’s all for now — wishing you a good week ahead.
See you next Tuesday!
