I’m heading off on vacation for the next while, which means the weekly blog is taking a short pause. But before I log off for a bit, here’s a quick look at what’s been happening behind the scenes at OLA.
Our Programs team is deep in planning mode for a number of spring and summer events. The calendar is filling up with some great opportunities for learning and connection, including Library as Place, Digital Odyssey, and RA in a Day. OLA is launching our very first Safer Spaces Symposium, taking place virtually on March 25th, with a focus on library washrooms – our most specific and unique offering maybe ever! Regardless of whether your focus is readers’ advisory, library space planning, or technology (which is all of us at this point), each of these programs brings together library people from across the sectors to explore ideas and build skills. It’s always energizing to see these programs take shape.
On the governance side, we’re putting the final touches on the Super Conference wrap-up report for the Board. This report helps us capture the key insights from this year’s conference, including what worked well, what we learned, and how we can continue to improve the experience next year.
We’re also really excited about the amount of outreach happening with library schools and staff training days in libraries across the province. Members of the OLA team have been invited to speak with students and staff about advocacy, professional engagement, and the work of the OLA. It’s always a great opportunity to connect with people at different stages of their careers to talk about the role OLA plays in supporting the profession.
Even though the blog will be quiet for a couple of weeks, the work continues behind the scenes and across the sector. Best of luck to those of you with March Break programming!
See you in two weeks!
