Can you believe it’s already November? October disappeared in a blur of library love — and last week was all about pulling together a recap of our amazing Library Month celebrations. My colleague Lily just sent out a newsletter with all the highlights, photos, and stories from across the province. Thanks again to everyone who joined the festivities and helped showcase the magic of Ontario’s libraries.
It’s the first Tuesday of the month, which means the OLA Board meets today. Over the past week, we’ve been busy pulling together reports from OLA committees and councils for their review — a great reminder of how thoughtful, behind-the-scenes work keeps this organization moving forward.
On a more cinematic note, I met with the organizers of the Guelph Film Festival last week. They’re hosting a screening of The Librarians next weekend, followed by a panel discussion where I’ll be joining James Turk to talk about the local context of book challenges. It’s sure to be a powerful conversation, and if you’re in the area, I’d love to see you there.
And finally — we’ve got a new Library Land Loves podcast episode out today all about signage! I sat down with Aleksandra Dowiat Vine, Mary Kapusta, and Mark Aaron Polger to talk about the signs that guide, nudge, and inform us in our library spaces. If signage is your jam, give it a listen!
See you next Tuesday!
