Welcome to the OLA Blog

Michelle Arbuckle

September 2, 2025

Welcome to the new OLA blog. Everything old is new again!

If you’ve ever wondered what happens behind the scenes at the Ontario Library Association—between Super Conferences, Forest of Reading Festivals, statements, committee meetings, and everything else—we’ve created this space for exactly that.

This blog is where I’ll share updates on the work we’re doing, the decisions we’re navigating, and the progress we’re making on behalf of OLA members. Sometimes the updates will be about big-picture strategy (like where our government relations work is headed or how our strategic plan is shaping our next steps). Other times it might be the small but important things—like new partnerships, committee opportunities, or the story behind why we’ve made a certain shift.

Think of this as your window into OLA’s engine room: the place where the planning, connecting, and the problem-solving happens.

I want this space to feel conversational but also useful. As members, you invest your time, energy, and trust in this association. You deserve to know not only what’s happening, but how and why decisions are made. My goal is to keep you in the loop, spark conversation, and highlight the people and ideas that keep our sector strong.

Check back here every Tuesday—we’ll keep posting updates, insights, and behind-the-scenes stories. And if there’s something you’d like to hear more about, let us know. After all, OLA is powered by its members.

Here’s to opening the doors a little wider.

See you next Tuesday!

Michelle
