Standing Up for Stories: Championing Every Student's Right to Read

Virtual
Organized by OSLA Council

About This Session
Our own OSLA Past-President, Wendy Burch Jones joins fellow members of the Canadian Centre for Free Expression’s Working Group on Schools and Intellectual Freedom to discuss the pressing issues of today. Why are book challenges on the rise in our school libraries? What is our role in defending intellectual freedom? What does the “freedom to read” look like in our Ontario schools? And how do we deal with book challenges in our own school communities? Join us as we tackle these big issues and discuss the pivotal role of school library professionals as they champion our students’ right to read.

About School Libraries Connect

The Ontario School Library Association (OSLA) is excited to announce a new initiative designed to inspire, motivate and engage its members — School Libraries Connect sessions. School Libraries Connect sessions are virtual events for school library professionals to network, share, ask questions, and celebrate the incredible impact school libraries have on our communities. To view all topics taking place throughout the year, view the School Libraries Connect website.

Sessions take place monthly between September - June, will be available live and on-demand, and are included in the cost of your OSLA membership. Not an OSLA member? Join today!
