Cataloguing with Official RDA from Toolkit to Record: Breaking Down the Workflow

This 3-week online program is designed for current cataloguing practitioners or supervisors who want to learn how to catalogue according to the bibliographic standard RDA: Resource Description and Access, using the official RDA Toolkit.
This program is designed to be taken asynchronously, with a weekly live support session scheduled each Thursday. The content that learners will complete at their own pace include assigned readings, videos, and quizzes or exercises. Answer keys will be provided.
To gain the most benefit from the program, we provide a recommended schedule for completing the asynchronous content. Complete the content at the beginning of each week, then attend the Thursday live support session to discuss what was learned or to ask questions.
- Week 1: September 28-October 2, 2026 (live help session on October 1, 12:00 -1:00 pm EDT)
- Week 2: October 5-9, 2026 (live help session on October 8, 12:00 -1:00 pm)
- Week 3: October 13-16, 2026 (Thanksgiving Day on October 12; live help session on October 15, 12:00 – 1:00 pm)
This program is led by members of the RDA Training in Canada Working Group, a collaborative national initiative to develop RDA training resources for Canadian libraries to reuse and remix. This program is based in part on the OLA Super Conference 2026 pre-conference workshop.
