Meet the Editor

2025 - Andra Steele - Headshot

I have enjoyed being a professional librarian for the past 35 years, having worked in academic and special libraries at the beginning of my career. In 2001, I made the move to the public library sector and have been working at the Oakville Public Library to this day, in a variety of positions. Since 2013, I have been the Manager of the Central Branch.

Prior to my library career, I briefly held a position at Carswell where I proofread legal case law and citations for about a year. It was this experience that honed my attention to detail, and I have thoroughly enjoyed proofreading and editing ever since. When a former boss of mine shared with me that OPLA was looking for a volunteer editor for its HoOPLA Newsletter, I jumped at the opportunity and was fortunate to be awarded the role in the fall of 2022.

I eagerly look forward to working on each issue of HoOPLA and being the first to read about all of the exciting happenings in public libraries all across the province!
