Download OLA and FOPL's Elections Toolkit Now!

The Ontario Provincial Election is a critical opportunity for the library sector to capture the attention of political parties and candidates & secure their support to address the critical gaps that continue to confront Ontario’s libraries and the many individuals and families across the province that depend on them.

  1. Meet with Candidates or Campaign Staff (Starting now!)
  2. Write or email a letter / questionnaire to local Candidates (Later this spring)
  3. Engage through social media (Later this spring)
  4. Ask key questions at town hall meetings and all-candidates debates (Later this spring)

No matter what type of library you are involved with – Academic, Public, School, Special – support from your local stakeholders, decision-makers, and leaders is essential to ensuring that you and your library have the resources and connections you need.

The resources of this toolkit were created to help OLA members from all library sectors, to advocate for their libraries and to broaden the community of library advocates in Ontario. This toolkit aims to provide guidance as to how to advocate effectively and link to additional resources for members who wish to learn more.
