OLITA's Technology Lending Library

NOTE: The OLA office is currently closed, and we are unable to fulfill Tech Lending requests. Any requests submitted will be addressed once the office reopens.

OLITA council has established a Technology Lending Library to provide OLA members with an opportunity to explore new technologies in their libraries. The current inventory consists of:

Any OLA member in good standing may request items from the OLA Technology Lending Library. OLA members may choose to request a technology loan for their libraries or for themselves. The number of items that may be borrowed and loan periods may differ depending on the type of loan.

All borrowers are asked to complete an exit survey after participating in this lending opportunity.

For Libraries

  • A maximum of one of each item type may be requested per loan period.
  • A pair of Makey Makey, Squishy Circuits, or Flip Video Cameras may be borrowed per loan period.
  • All items have a loan period of 8 weeks except for the Lego Mindstorm, View Master Virtual Reality Kit, and Little Bits Kit which have a loan period of 6 weeks.
  • All items must be shipped back to the OLA Office (at the borrower’s expense) by the end of the loan period.
  • Items may be renewed if there are no other standing requests to borrow.

For individual members

  • A maximum of one of each item type may be borrowed per loan period.
  • All items have a loan period of 8 weeks except for the Lego Mindstorm, View Master Virtual Reality Kit, and Little Bits Kit which have a loan period of 6 weeks.
  • All items must be shipped back to the OLA Office (at the borrower’s expense) by the end of the loan period.
  • Items may be renewed if there are no other standing requests to borrow.

OLA will cover the shipping cost of sending the library items (one way only) to the borrower. The OLA will ship to the borrower via our preferred carrier.

The borrower is responsible for return shipping costs, and must ship using a method that includes a tracking number. Borrowers may also pick up and/or drop off library items at the OLA office directly.
